Day 2

Yesterday's class was great in so many ways and I would fail to encapsulate them here. However, the professor for this course has done a great job, and even though the work load is rigorous, the material is wonderful (God's Word usually is eh?!) At one point in the class yesterday our prof opened his english Bible and his Hebrew Bible and walked us through a theme related to kingship, image of God and more in the first few chapters of the Old Testament. It was great...and one point I had an ah-hah moment and a few tears came to my eyes (I know, I know, my usually MO). It was a great class and we covered a lot of material.

On Tap for Today- The Nature of Human Freedom & God's Sovereignty and we'll likely be looking at a theory by Bruce Ware called "Compatibilist Middle Knowledge"- in short is says that God knows everything that is going to happen, (including and specifically human choices) and He knows all the possibilities of things that are not going to happen, but could happen (this is the middle knowledge part), and that God aligns situations (since He is utterly Sovereign) so that a person will choose a certain path, thereby leaving man responsible for a choice, and yet God utterly Sovereign. Man is put in a situation with an outcome that God knows will occur...yet man is the one making the choice, but God's will is never not going to be accomplished (this is the compatibilist part). Obviously, as it relates to salvation (soteriology), this fits a reformed and/or calvinistic view more than an arminian one...this whole idea though transcends the issue of salvation and extends to every minute detail of the human life...God is so sovereign, every single detail of our lives are before Him....if we discuss this today, it should be exciting...

Grace to you...
